2018 was another busy year for BNest – one full of workshops, meetings, events, new connections and everyday work… but this year was also very special for us and if we were to use only one word to describe it, it would be EXTRAORDINARY.
Nearly 3 years ago, when we’ve started BNest we had a simple goal – to help socially inspired founders, by creating a socially motivated incubator.
But we quickly learned that incubator itself wouldn’t be enough – one of the key components to create a really powerful and effective support – is making CONNECTIONS.
Connectivity between social enterprises and traditional businesses, funders, CSR, support organisations, volunteers, researchers seemed to be the answer to many problems emerging social entrepreneurs face.
We started building these connections and the response we got back was amazing – there are so many people and organisations in Ireland that truly believe making a positive social impact through business activities is the way to go.
Nexus Innovation Centre, Kemmy Business School, followed by Clare Local Development Company, SECAD, North & East Kerry Development Company and Ludgate Hub – all came together with BNest and this collaboration led to creating Irish Social Business Campus (ISBC) – regional, collaborative and practical support structure to help the creation and growth of businesses for social impact.
We are delighted the potential of this unique collaboration was recognised by Enterprise Ireland and ISBC was granted Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) funding at the beginning of December.
This creates a fantastic opportunity for us to continue and extend support services and also enhance the knowledge about the social enterprise sector in Ireland.
We would like to thank each and every person we’ve met on our journey so far – we wouldn’t be where we are now without you!
We are very excited about the future – our goal of contributing towards a strong community of vibrant, robust & impactful Social Enterprises in Ireland will only be achievable with your continued support and enthusiasm, so we look forward to connecting, collaborating and providing support in 2019.
Let us wish you Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
