BNest 2016/2017 Showcase

BNest, in partnership with Nexus Centre UL have been running a dedicated social enterprise Incubator programme since Sept 2016. In this programme nine emergent social enterprises have been working on both developing and augmenting their social enterprise endeavours.
To showcase these enterprises and the substantial progress they have made, an event is being run to help them display to the Mid West region their endeavours and allow others to view the real social impact they are having on the broader community they serve. In addition to the display booths a short informal presentation will be made by each enterprise.

How it went...

We would like to thank everyone who attended our 2016/2017 Programme showcase day.

It was great to see how far all our participants have progressed in their endeavours.

If you have missed this event, but would like to find out more – please have a look at:

The BNest incubator however doesn’t only help social enterprises within its core group but also seeks to promote social enterprise in the mid west in general. This event is therefore open to any interested individuals or groups who may be thinking about setting up a hybrid or social enterprise in the mid west region.

Eamon Ryan, founder of BNest:

“We have some of the leading minds and experts on social enterprise governance and oversight speaking to our social enterprises and we are delighted to invite any one else who is interested to come along and learn too.”

Among those discussing funding will be:

– Diarrmiud O’Corrbui of Carmichael Centre,

– Pat Sheehan, BDO and

– Caroline Egan, Cramdentech.

The aim of the event is to hopefully encourage would be social entrepreneurs in Limerick, Clare and Tipperary to understand the choices and options on set-up and effective governance of such enterprises.

It is important for both those running social enterprises and providing oversight to understand their functions and responsibilities both for their own personal protection and of their enterprise.

Agenda:

– “Financial Implications of Social Enterprise Structures”, Pat Sheehan, BDO, Limerick

– “Simplifying Board management for non-technical Directors”, Caroline Egan, Cramdentech
